The Parretts

"My great grandfather, James Parrett, was the grocer, baker and postmaster at Bishopstone, since 1852.

His son William Alfred, took over in1882, and it operated until the 1970s.

Here is a photo of the family, about 1913, with William standing, right, with wife Sarah. Son Percy, standing centre, Sgt. Tom, in uniform, his sister, Clarissa, standing next to him., and Mary holding Percy, operated the village shop at New Milton".

Photograph shows the old Post Office although there
seems to be no signs of it being used as such.

A family have come out into the garden of the cottage beyond, to be included in the photograph. (Enhanced section shown here)
