THE YOUTH LEISURE CREDITS SCHEME IN BISHOPSTONE
Wiltshire Council runs a scheme whereby young people aged 13 – 19 years can join organised occasional working groups for a day or half day to undertake environmental conservation work in the community. In return they receive “leisure credits” which can take the form of trips to the cinema, bowling, go-karting or any other leisure time activity that the group might propose.
In our area this is organised by Mark Holden (based in Tisbury) and Jenni Bertram who is the Youth Development Co-ordinator in Wilton. Work has already been done in Bishopstone, with young people from other parts of South Wltshire, clearing footpaths and bridleways. Mark and Jenni are keen to establish a “Bishopstone Group” and a first meeting was held on 18 October at which a number of people showed an interest. Further details are attached. Parental consent is required.
If you are interested in joining in, or simply in finding out more, please contact Cllr Lizzie Williams (who is leading on this for the Parish Council) or Jenni Bertram (tel: 07919547706, e-mail: jenni.bertram@wiltshire.gov.uk).
