!!!!!!!! HIMALAYAN BALSAM ALERT !!!!!!
The river is currently being surveyed by Wiltshire Wildlife under the auspicious of a project called Source to Sea. They are particularly looking for a non-native species called Himalayan Balsam which is found on river banks and damp woodland.
It spreads solely by seeds and out competes native species in ecologically sensitive areas. Allowed to flourish it can impede water flow and increase the risk of flooding.
Some has been found downstream of Faulston and upstream in Broad Chalke.
PLEASE REPORT TO THE WILTSHIRE WILDLIFE TEAM ON 01380 725670
